travel with peace of mind

TRAVEL WISELY AND CONFIDENTLY

Some time ago, we had an interesting conversation with a potential customer about the pricing of our trips vs what he’d get in return, which made us reflect about this.

Some will say X amount of money for coming on one of our trips is too cheap given what they get from it. Others will probably think it’s too expensive vs. what they see being advertised elsewhere on the “cheap” web.
In this business of taking people around Portugal on an overland/adventure trip, the peace of mind of our guests is by far the single most important thing for us, not the money we might get paid for it.

But what exactly does “peace of mind” mean for us, and how shoud this set responsible companies apart from the outlaws that wonder around the world (here included)?

PEACE OF MIND WHILE TRAVELLING OVERLAND

For us, providing total peace of mind to our guests is ensuring they know a few important things:     1. We have a license to operate and all the legal permits and permissions required by the Portuguese law to conduct the trips.

2. We hold an environmental certification and we always follow the applicable regulations on our trips (e.g. no wild camping).

3. We do our own research and recces to guarantee that every single road or off-road track is safe and legal to drive, especially in environmentally protected areas.

4. We respect people’s customs and contribute to the benefit of local communities,

5. We will not be trespassing or invading private property

6. In the case of something bad happening, we are legally insured, and will act responsibly.

7. We look after them and assist them with anything they might need, from start to finish.

8. We’ll pass by people and places leaving a positive impact and giving them something back.

9. Everyone will go back home, enriched as a human being.

These are some of the things that keep us awake at night when organising our overland trips here in Portugal, to make sure our guests have nothing to worry about, and enjoy their trip in full.

Next time you’re planning to come to Portugal on an adventure trip, ask the so-called “experts” what is included/not included in their Terms and Conditions and check the fine print of the contract, because as people say, “the devil is in the detail”.

How much do you think your peace of mind is worth?
